Karen Lee Porter, 84 of Louisville, Ky passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Norton’s Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Indianapolis Indiana, August 4, 1939 to Freda B. and Lowell P. Kemper. She is a 1957 graduate of Howe High School and attended Indiana University. Karen retired from National City Bank and soon began a second “career” as a part-time receptionist at The Forum at Brookside in Middletown, which she thoroughly enjoyed over the past 24 years. Karen loved putting together the perfect outfits to wear to work, complete with the perfect accessories, along with thrifting, coupon clipping and any other way to stretch a dollar. She enjoyed crafting, creating, and gifting. Karen is survived by two children, Wm. Brian Porter (Nancy) of Louisville, KY, Kelly Porter Coffey of Danville, KY; four grandchildren Lauren Willett (Mitch) of Lake Elmo, MN, Lindsay Porter (Slater) of Louisville, KY, Addison Coffey of Lexington, KY and Bennett Coffey of Danville, KY; a great grandson Brooks Willett; a sister Vicky J. McBurnie (Bob) of Bourbonnais, IL and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Ratterman’s Funeral Home Springhurst on Westport Road, Sunday, April 28 from 2:00-5:00 with arrangements being made by McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 30 at Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse, Indiana at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in loving memory of Karen L. Porter.
