Sandra Janice Martin Clayton

August 16, 1935July 4, 2013

Sandra Janice (Martin) Clayton, aged 77, passed away July 4, 2013 at Baptist Healthcare Louisville.  A Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, who filled everyone’s life with joy and comfort, always putting others before herself.

Sandra was born August 16, 1935 in Carrier Mills, Illinois. She and her brother and sister and mother lived through trying times with the aid of love, laughter, and lots of music. After moving to Louisville and marrying Richard, she raised her family and then went back to work as a legal secretary and then as a customer service representative at Alltel/Windstream. Sandra was an active member of Hebron Presbyterian Church where she gladly served in any capacity requested. Though always modest and self-effacing, her generosity of spirit and sunny disposition filled the room and spilled over on to all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Richard Clayton, Sr., and her son, Richard Paul Clayton, Jr. Remaining to celebrate and honor her life are her devoted daughter and best friend, Melissa Ann Parrish (Troy), grandchildren Martin and Kendall Parrish, and Paul Clayton III; sister Mona Martin Odle, and nieces Jamie Odle (Don Saunders) and Melinda Odle (Chris Foreman).

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, Mt. Washington with visitation from noon until time of service.  Burial will be held Monday at 10 am at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Missy, I am SO sorry for your loss! :( May the emptiness you feel now soon be replaced with beautiful memories! Glenda Spurling (Sue)
My heart goes out to Missy and the family, Sandy was the warmest, sweetest, kindest person I have probably ever known. She always treated me like a son, Richard was my brother of a different mother but you would have thought I was blood. Sandy was an angle here on earth she blessed all that knew her with her warm smile and kind words of wisdom. I know Sandy is reunited in heaven with both of her guys, you’ll be missed here on earth. I hope to see you again on day. Love Your other son Bud
