Alice (Brown) Burkhead

Alice Burkhead, 93, of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Baptist Health.  Alice was a Spaulding University graduate and  a dedicated elementary school teacher with the Bullitt County Public School System for 32 years.  She was a member of K.E.A., N.E.A., and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph E. Burkhead Sr.; a son, Joseph E. Burkhead Jr.; her parents, John and Ethel Brown; two brothers, John Brown, Jr. and Clyde Brown.  Alice is survived by three sons, Denny (Eleanor), Stuart (Debbie), Steve (Ana) Burkhead; one daughter, Ann Milburn; one brother, Bennie Brown; along with nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home.  There will be a private burial at Highland Memory Gardens.  Memorial gifts are suggested to First Baptist Church.
