Anita Joy Howard, 88, of Louisville, returned to the Lord on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Baptist Health. Anita was born on November 28, 1935 in Jefferson County, KY to the late Guffie and Ruth Higgs. She was a longtime member of Little Flock Baptist Church, serving as church pianist for many years, a member of the choir, and worked with the prayer ministry. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, and was an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nathan Hunter Howard. Anita is survived by one daughter, Lauren Burress (Rodney); a son, Matthew Howard; five grandchildren, Hillary, Phillip, and Whitney Burress, Dale Howard, and Andrea Young; along with five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at Little Flock Baptist Church with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Friends may visit on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hosparus of Louisville.
