Anna Ruth "Pete" Burkhead, 85, of Jeffersontown, returned to the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the former Anna House, a devoted homemaker, and a member of Cedar Creek Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. She enjoyed flowers, collecting antiques, and making biscuits and gravy with lard and love. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Burkhead; her parents, Kenneth and Mable House; and siblings, Patricia Brinley, Susie Cornell, and Joseph "Butch" House. Pete is survived by two children, Stanley "Junnie" Burkhead Jr. (Vickie) and Tracy Pruitt (Rick); a brother, Gary K. "Bud" House; sister, Bonnie Abrahamson; grandchildren, Jason (Brandy), Glen and Timothy (Sierra) Burkhead, Justin (Leslee) and Daniel (Shelly) Pruitt; great grandchildren, Colton Burkhead, Ashton, Kinsley, Wyatt, and Hadley Pruitt, and Benjamin Nicoulin. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial gifts are suggested to Hosparus of Louisville or Alzheimer's Association.
