Rev. Asa I Gillespie, 96, of Louisville KY, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024. He was born on March 21, 1928 to the late Floyd and Effie Lawson Gillespie in Saldee, Kentucky. He worked for Ashland Oil, Eastman Kodak, and ultimately served as a pastor for 40 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Claudyne; three brothers, Bill, Carl, and Charles; six sisters, Ila Mae, Wanda, Fern, Lillian, Jean, and Eula. Rev. Gillespie is survived by one son, Asa L (Emily S); three grandsons Aaron L (Charity), Aaron M (Britany), and Ryan E (Elizabeth), four great grandsons, Ellis, Wesley, George, and Declan; one sister Ruth; along with many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Christian Assembly Church, 9020 Stonestreet Road, Louisville, KY with burial to follow in Beth Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to be made to Christian Assembly Church in his memory.
