Bernida Carol (Gribbins) Keown

Bernida Carol Keown, 72, of Mt. Washington, passed away October 2, 2020.

She was retired from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, a member of First Baptist Church Mount Washington, and known to many as Mrs. Claus.  Bernida was loved by many and a friend to all she knew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Elda Gribbins; along with a grandson, Derek Henry.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Keown, Jr.; two sons, David Owen (Pam) and John Keown, III (Becky); two daughters, Jamie Keown Sanchez (Manuel) and Dana Keown Hazelwood (Larry); a sister, LaVada Giltner; along with thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church Mount Washington with burial to follow in the Mount Washington Cemetery.  Friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to either Kosair Charities or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
