Betty Lorraine Carey Proctor, 77, surrounded by her family, went home to our Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Betty was born on July 30, 1948 in Mt. Washington, KY to the late Marvin & Iona Gentry Carey.
Betty was a Christian by faith and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was privileged to serve as a member of the church choir for over 50 years and to co-teach the first co-ed Sunday School Class at Pleasant Grove alongside her husband as well as served on many other ministries and programs in the church.
She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother to her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed decorating her home for the different seasons and holidays and enjoyed gathering and entertaining family and friends for holidays and special occasions.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son in law, David Laswell; two sisters, LaVonne Shewmaker and Lana Durr; three brothers, Kenneth Ray, Bruce and Boyce Carey; sister and brother-in-law, Vonnie and Buddy Gaddie.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Omer Dale Proctor; three daughters, Tonya Sivori (Vincent), Laurie Cornell (Todd) and Cassy Luckett (Joe); a sister, Mary Hedgespeth (Terry); sister-in-laws, Wanda Ritz (Bob) and Rose and Cheryl Carey; brother-in-laws, Marvin Proctor (Eula) and Lynn Durr. Her six grandchildren; Austin Luckett (Lauren), Shelby Brown (A.J.), Samantha Merideth (Chad), Sidney Schell (Zachary), Danielle Dishon (Dustin) and Janzen Sivori (Sarah) and her eight great-grandchildren; Gabby and Avaley Luckett, David Allen Brown, Clara Lorraine and AnnaKate Merideth, Reed and Hallie Rae Dishon, and Calvin Joel (C.J.) Sivori.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 30, 2026 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Shepherdsville, KY with burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 29th from 1:00-8:00 pm at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 9:00 am Monday at the Church. Memorial Gifts in Betty’s Honor can be made to Hosparus of Louisville or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
