Billy James Peavler, 91, of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at his home. He was born in Tatham Springs, KY on July 25, 1932 to the late James Paul and Catherine Dedman Peavler. Billy was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and was a lifelong UK basketball fan. He made his last fishing trip a week ago with his pal, Eddie Galloway, and his son, Allen Peavler. He was a co-owner and operator of Nutt and Peavler Construction Company. He was the oldest living member of Riverview Baptist Church in High Grove, and was a regular at the DQ men’s meeting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Jenkins Peavler; a granddaughter, Renee Peavler; and a brother, Johnny Peavler. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 32 years, Ruth Ann Hawkins Nation Peavler; his children, Allen Peavler (Carla) and Kathy McHargue (Buddy); stepchildren, Susan Shouse (Tommy), Sheri McGaughey, Jennifer Waldridge, and Wendell Nation (Chrissy); his grandchildren, Julie Kelty, Amy Hall, Casey Peavler, Christopher McHargue, Travis Peavler, Tommy Bruce Shouse, Ronald George Briely, Wendy Argueta, Micah McGaughey, Tyler Stone, Madison Allgier, and Tori Ann Nation; along with 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Willisburg Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
