Brenda Orlena (Ball) Smothers

Brenda Orlena Smothers, 77, of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at her home.  She was a devoted homemaker, loved and cared for her family, and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington.  She sang in the choir, was an active member of her Sunday School class, and the Bible Study Fellowship.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling and Ruth Ball.  Brenda is survived by her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Roger Smothers; two children, Hope Smothers Simpson and Ron Smothers; one granddaughter, Izabella Simpson; along with a host of cousins and many friends.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church Coakley Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery.  Friends may visit 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.  Memorial gifts are suggested to her church.
