Carlene Marie Vowels of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, May 6, 2022. She was surrounded by her four adoring children and loving husband of 60 years.

Carlene was born on October 1, 1943, in Louisville, KY to Carl Frederick and Anna Marie Genewein. Carlene married her sweetheart Theodore Vowels in 1961. The two went on to successfully establish Country Corner Greenhouse and Nursery in 1981 and provided joy to Bullitt County and the surrounding community for 40 years. Carlene was a passionate, kind, and gracious woman who worked to support her family and bring a smile to the faces of the people around her. Carlene was a loving mother to her four children: Teddy, Dora, Ann, and Lisa (Chad). She was also a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren: Amanda, Garrett, Hank, Emma Grace, and Spencer. Carlene will be desperately missed by those she leaves behind. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends filled with flowers and time for sharing all our memories. Memorial gifts are suggested to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
