Charlene Kay Woodard, 76, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at Norton Audubon Hospital. Born in 1948 in Louisville, KY to the late Arvil and Virginia Francis, she dedicated her life to caring for others as a critical care registered nurse. Her career began at the old Southwest Hospital in Louisville, followed by Audubon Hospital, where she became the floor manager for ICU and TCU. She left Audubon to further her career as a teacher at Spencerian College, and then finished her career serving at the Jefferson County Health Department. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin Woodard; her brother, Arvil “Boone” Francis Jr.; and her granddaughter, Erin Kay Woodard. Charlene is survived by her children, Kristy Henderson (David), Ronald Woodard (Charlotte), and Michael Woodard (Haley); grandchildren Kaelyn (Matt), Haeli (Ashley), Christian (Cheyenne), Brandon (Emily), Ean, and Millie; and great-grandchildren Trinity, Karson, Jacob, Teagan, and Melody; and a sister, Darlene Morgan (Bob). A Celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2025 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mt. Washington, KY. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of service. Memorial gifts in her memory are suggested to be made to Norton Children’s Hospital. Her compassion, dedication, and love for family will be deeply missed.
