Charles Mark Stewart, 68, of Charlestown, Indiana passed away at Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center of Norton Pavilion surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Mark was born on August 26, 1955 to the late Billy Harlin Stewart and Helen Elizabeth Puffenbarger in Altus, Oklahoma. He grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, attending Doss High School and receiving his degree at Kentucky Wesleyan. Mark retired from Seven Counties after many years of service. Mark and Judy spent their early years traveling and playing music in their bluegrass band Kentucky. He spent his later years raising children, playing music with his family, playing pickleball, and men's 60 and over basketball. You could find him working in the yard and telling a joke or two to anyone who would listen. He was a tried and true Dallas Cowboys fan, and never missed an opportunity to watch them play. He will be greatly missed by all, and his legacy will live on through his family. Mark is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judith Lena Borges Stewart; his children, Katherine Ivy Nizinski (James) and Carson Mark Stewart (Madison). Mark was affectionately called "Poppy Pop" by his granddaughter, Vivian Ivy. Mark is also survived by a sister, Karen Elizabeth Stowers (William Timothy) and a brother, Kent Alvin Stewart; as well as his nieces and nephew, Sarah Wray, Hannah Stowers, and Chad Stowers (Chrissie) ; and great nieces and nephews, Haley Wray, Jackson Wray, Benjamin Stowers, Caitlyn Stowers, and Sydney Stowers. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
