Claude Cornell, Jr. Obituary

Claude Monroe "Short" Cornell Jr., 94 of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Sanders Ridge Health Campus.  Short was a lifelong farmer, a former member and deacon at Kings Baptist Church, and current member of River View Baptist Church.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife.  They have traveled to all 50 states and abroad.  He loved fishing, horseback riding, and was an avid UK fan.  He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Gladys Cornell Sr., and a sister, Imalene Cornell.  Short is survived by his wife of 72 years, Kathryn Cornell; three sons, Pem (Lou), Tom, and Boo (Sharon) Cornell; two sisters, Marvin Elaine Whitaker and Joy Alexander;  four grandchildren, PJ (Beckie) BJ (Wendi), Brandon (Jill) and Tom Cornell;  four great grandchildren; Clive, Davin "Batman", Seth, and Kera Belle Cornell; and a host of nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday.  Memorial gifts are suggested to Hosparus of Louisville.
