Curtis Edward Johnson, 84, of Tavares, FL, formerly of Louisville, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at his home. He was a truck driver for Mason-Dixon Trucking, where he worked for over 20 years, and then later started his own trucking company, Curtis E. Trucking. He was a member and former agent for Teamster’s Local 89, former owner of Twin Palms Resort and Marina, a musician, and was a farming and camping enthusiast. He was a member of Fisherville Baptist Church, Swigert Middletown Masonic Lodge #218, and a United States Marine Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Johnson; his grandson, Austin Buechele; his father, Chester Johnson; mother and stepfather, Eunice and Paul Priddy. Curtis is survived by two children, Teresa Buechele (Bruce) and Mark Johnson (Belinda); one sister, Brenda Kulmer, and her children, Tommy and Mindy; two grandchildren, Morgan Buechele (Chad) and Logan Forshee (Gabrielle); a granddaughter-in-law, Hope Buechele; along with two great grandchildren, Brayden and Harlan Keeling. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts are suggested to Hosparus.
