Darrel Phillip Burress

Darrel Phillip Burress, 88, of Shepherdsville, KY returned to Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Baptist Health Louisville.  Darrel was born on August 13, 1936 in Marion County, KY to the late Walter Charles and Lyda Lois Burress.   He was a retired employee of General Electric where he worked for 38 years, a member of Salt River Masonic Lodge #180, and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and especially time with his grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Burress; a son-in-law, Paul Shadowens; and his four siblings, Coleman and Della Mae Burress, LaQuita Hunt, and Nancy Hunt. Darrell is survived by three sons, Rodney (Lauren), Michael, and Charles (Whitney) Burress; two daughters, Theresa Greer (David), and Diane Shadowens; along with ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with a private family burial to follow.  Friends may visit on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.  Memorial gifts in his memory are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
