David Lewis Shirley, Sr.

David Lewis Shirley, Sr., 72, of Mt. Washington, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Baptist Health.  He was a native of Harrodsburg, a retired employee of General Electric, where he worked for over 34 years, and after retirement worked for Kaufer Construction.  He was also a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Willa Elizabeth Shirley; and sisters, Martha Nicely, Helen Lewis, Ruth Thristler, Wanda Lane, and Brenda McCrystal.  David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita Stine Shirley; two sons, David Jr. and Kevin Sr. (Nicole) Shirley; a brother, Floyd Shirley; sister, Fanny Jane Pinkston; along with four grandchildren, Kevin Matthew Jr. (Brooke), Sydney, and Jackson Shirley, and Angel Watson (Nick); three great grandchildren, Aspen, Tinley, and Xavier Watson.  Unfortunately due to the current pandemic, all services will be private.  Memorial gifts in Mr. Shirley's memory are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
