Derek Dewayne Chesser, 32, of Mt. Washington, passed away July 8, 2021 at his home. He was an employee of Hall’s Floor Maintenance, a welder, and enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He attended Glory and Fire Worship Center, and served with Eddie James Ministries, as well as being a sound engineer over the years. Derek was a very outgoing and fun-loving person, who had a big heart, a big, contagious smile, and an infectious laugh. He never met a stranger and would help anyone he could. He is survived by his mother, Becky Myers (David); his father, Kevin Chesser (Pam); one daughter, Ava Chesser; one brother, Jake Wood (Kerigan); two sisters, Courtney and Faith Chesser; his grandparents, Wayne and Anna Chesser and Arvis and Pauline Brock; an uncle, Jason Brock (Julie); two aunts, Melissa Kessinger and Kim Lutes; three nieces, Ariel and Avianna Chesser and Wrenlee Wood; along with a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mount Washington Church of God, with burial to follow in the Mount Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit 2-8 p.m. Monday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
