Duane Leroy Vande Brake

Duane Leroy Vande Brake, 93, of Mt. Washington, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Baptist Health Louisville.  He was a retired employee of General Electric where he worked for over 35 years and a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church.  He proudly served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Vande Brake was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ora Vande Brake; his parents, Jacob and Gertrude Vande Brake; and siblings, Henrietta Eernisse, Lawrence and Gary Vande Brake.  He is survived by two children, Cheryl Ruff (David) and Barry Owen Vande Brake (Barbara); two brothers, Vernon and Melvin Vande Brake; along with three grandchildren, Robert and Samuel Vande Brake, and David "Lee" Ruff III; and five great grandchildren, Lucy, Joseph, Mary, Molly and Anna.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
