Edgar Jay Norton

Edgar Jay Norton, 82, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 at his home.  He was born on July 8, 1943 in Spencer County, KY to the late Benjamin and Julia Price Norton.  He was a retired logger for Glasscock Sawmill and a member of New Hope Tabernacle.  Jay loved music, especially playing the guitar.  He also enjoyed fishing, painting cars, building, and logging.  He came from a  large family and had generous heart.  He used to buy all of his younger siblings and family new bicycles.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Johnny Allen Norton and James Wayne Norton and 21 brothers and sisters.  Jay is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Brumett Norton; seven children, Edgar J. Norton Jr., Lisa Apolonio (Armando), Dewanda Price, Jason Price, Amber Couch, Jessica Jewell, and Jeremy Norton (Jessica); 20 grandchildren, Edgar J. Norton III, Jeana Keeling, Stephanie Young, Cheyenne Norton, Caroline Norton, Michael Douglas, Jordan Kelly, Brittlynn Price, Katie Hagan, Dakota Hartwell, Kyle Vest, Trinten Vest, Alyssa Jewell, David Jewell, Korbin Mills, Maddie Rose, Bailey Hernandez, Kailynn Romero, Cloey and Jayden Hershey; along with 18 great grandchildren and one on the way.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Valley Cemetery.  Friends may visit from 12 p.m. until time of services on Thursday.  Memorial gifts in his memory are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
