Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Proffitt, died Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Sanders Ridge Health Campus, Mt. Washington, KY.  Born in Glasgow, near Temple Hill, she was the daughter of Herbert Hayden & Annie Lucille Gentry Veach.  Libby was a former bookkeeper and retired front office manager for Glasgow Daily Times, a former associate with Rite Aid, a former clerk with the Carhartt Store and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Libby was also known for her cooking, to the point of having an article written about her in the Glasgow Daily Times.  She’s preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Delmas R. Proffitt; and a sister, Frances.  She’s survived by her sons, David (Dana) of Nashville and John (Ashley) of Louisville; her grandchildren, Allyn Hodgins (Payton) of Richmond, VA, Matthew Proffitt of Mt. Washington, Brad Proffitt of Louisville and Katie Proffitt of Mt. Washington; Matt & Katie’s mother, Laura Proffitt-Rideout and her husband, Jonathan, of Mt. Washington; her sisters, Louise Veach of Fountain Run, Sue Emberton (Mack Ed) of Glasgow and Kaye Taylor of Tompkinsville; a brother, Michael Veach (Linda) of Bowling Green; and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Public visitation will be 4 to 7pm on Friday, November 17th at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, 111 N. Bardstown Rd., Mt. Washington, KY.  Family & public visitation will be 4 to 7pm on Saturday, November 18th at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, Glasgow, KY.   A private graveside service will held at a later date in Fountain Run Cemetery.  The family would like to thank Sanders Ridge staff, especially Lisa, Starr, Bri, Sherri, Glenna, Annette and Becca and Hosparus Health for their wonderful care of mom. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Community Medical Care, 204 N. Race Street, Glasgow, KY 42141 or Hosparus Health in Louisville.
