Harold Everett Smith, 71, of Mt. Washington, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Baptist Health. He was a retired construction worker, and served his country in the Army during Desert Storm. In keeping with service to others, Harold served his community as an active member of the Mt. Washington Lions Club, where he earned the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, and served as Past District Governor. He was also a former member of the Salt River Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debbie Smith; and his parents, Everett Earl and Jean Fay Smith. Harold is survived by two daughters, Bridget Linton (Matthew) and Brandi Payton (Mike); one son, Shawn Smith; two sisters, Charlotte Scrogham (Gary) and Karen Byers (David); a brother, Glenn Smith; along with eight grandchildren, Cortney, Chloe, Cameron, Lillian, Brandon, Ryan, Carter, and Makenzie. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2024 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
