Horace Denver Owen, 90, of Mt. Washington, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Mt. Washington, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of Fern Creek Masonic Lodge #955, Bethany Baptist Church, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a retired employee of General Electric, where he worked for 39 years, and was often referred to affectionately as “Hoss”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Adelia Scott Owen; and siblings, Mildred Daughtery, LaVerne Burns, Eva Culver, Ecel Ray Owen, and Danna Hill Owen. Horace is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Dennis Owen; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial gifts are suggested to be made to the DAV.
