Ida Mae Bailey, 86, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at her home. She was born on June 9, 1939 in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late Monroe and Sarah Mullins Breeding. She enjoyed crafting, flowers, baking, eating sweets, and her Santa collection. Her greatest joy came from her family, caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was also a member of Chenoweth Park Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Bailey Sr.; a great grandson, Bentley; her siblings, June, Archie, Ed, and Jack Breeding, Loretta Bentley, Ieda Baker and Jane Loretta Breeding; along with a son-in-law, Wayne Spaulding.
Ida is survived by four daughters, Lynn Spaulding, Vickie Talbott (Keith), Anita Milburn, and Jacqueline Churchill (Steven); one son, William Eugene “Buck” Bailey Jr. (Penny); two brothers, Jimmy and J.D. Breeding; a sister, Charlotte Cook; nine grandchildren, Anna Marie Thomson, Sabrina Browning, April Jones, Jennifer Mike, Stephanie Spitler, Renee Milburn, Ian Michael Bailey, Jessica Elizabeth Weber, and Justin Churchill; along with fourteen great grandchildren, Adison, Aubrey, Chandler, Bailey, Charlotte, Claire, Caroline, Alton, Jamison, Colton, Jade, Xavier, Connor, and Wesley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2026 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
