Iris Adelyn Dickey Obituary

Iris Adelyn “Aunt D” Tinsley Dickey, 97, of Mt. Washington, KY returned to the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025.  Adelyn was born on December 28, 1927 in Bullitt County to the late Roy Alvin and Evelyn Brumley Tinsley.    She was a retired employee of both Bell South Telephone Company and Peoples Bank of Mt. Washington, and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington.  She was feisty, loving, independent and loyal, and loved her family dearly.  She seemed to have boundless energy, as evidence by her love of mowing her grass, driving to the mall to walk, and delivering church magazines to “older” people.  She loved children and animals, especially dogs.  She taught 2 year old Sunday School for 80 years, and enjoyed every minute of it.  Her dogs, mostly poodles, were pampered, and treasured; along with every other dog she knew.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darrell Dickey; and a brother, Donald Tinsley.  Adelyn is survived by one brother, Bobby Tinsley; a sister-in-law, Betty Tinsley; nieces and nephews, Margie Jones (Don), Dana Henderson, Dawn Heil, Dan Tinsley (Barb), Dianna Sego (Wendell), Vandy Culver (Roy), and Betty Durden (Bobby); along with a host of great nieces and great nephews she dearly loved, including Chad Jones and his wife Amanda, who cared for her; and many friends including her special friend, Jennifer Harris.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church Coakley Chapel with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 12 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial gifts are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Kentucky Humane Society.
