James William “Bill” Cook Sr., 74, of Campbellsville, formerly of Mt. Washington, passed away on January 24, 2026. Bill was born on October 8, 1951 in Louisville, KY to the late James I. and Edwina Butler Cook. He was a retired truck driver for the Kroger Co., a Kentucky Colonel, an Army veteran, a member of Teamsters Local 89, and First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington. Bill enjoyed his work, taking care of his family, and kept a meticulous yard. He enjoyed classic country music and Elvis.
Bill is survived by two children, Tammy Cook and James William “Billy” Cook Jr. (Apryl); two sisters, Sherry Stuart (Tom) and Marla Moreno (Frank); one brother, Leon Cook (Linda); niece and nephews, Justin Cook, Tina House, Zach Cook, and Christopher Moreno; two step grandsons, Chris and Bobby Linde; along with a host of cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2026, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until time of services. Memorial gifts in his memory are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
