James Floyd Magruder, 84, of Louisville, gained his eternal wings on November 14, 2020.
While serving in the United States Marine Corps, at the US Embassy in London, England, he met the love of his life. Once stateside, he continued his love of service at the Black Mudd Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years. Able to drive anything on two, four, eight, or eighteen wheels, he loved being on the road and teaching those he loved how to drive. Once again, he is behind the wheel, with a smile on his face, saying, “Break 1-9 for a radio check, this is Paper Boy.”
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of over 64 years, Gladys Edwards Magruder; two daughters, Linda Roland (George) and Teresa J. Wilson; a son, Michael Magruder (Becky); four grandchildren, Dawana Vann, Rachael Eldridge (Allen), Allison Sweet (Dustin), and Anthony Wilson; along with one great-grand-daughter, Lilly Sweet.
Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 2 p.m. until time of service. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
