Obituary
Jay Eldon Meredith, 78, of Mt. Washington, passed away July 28, 2023 at Baptist Health Louisville. He was a retired employee of General Electric, a member of the Mount Washington Lions Club, and for years after his retirement, operated Meredith Lawn Care. Jay loved UK, the Yankees, and NASCAR, but his biggest love was his family, especially his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ina Meredith; his loving wife, Kaye Meredith; along with his siblings, Noleta Hunt, and Junior, Oreta, Billy, and Kay Porter Meredith. He is survived by his son, Greg Meredith (Dana); his daughter, Jaime Brady (Eric); along with his grandchildren, Peyton, Alec, Alison, Ethan, and Emily. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home. Friends may visit 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday. Friends are invited to join the family Saturday, August 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home for Jay's funeral procession to Highland Memory Gardens, where burial will take place at 11 a.m. Per his request, Jay will be carried in the funeral home's original 1906 horse drawn hearse.
