Joan Dell (Porter) Smith

Joan D. Smith, 92, of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Baptist Health.  Joan was born on November 5, 1933 in Bullitt County, KY to the late Charles Marshall Porter and Mary Burch Harris.  She was a retired employee of the Jefferson County Public School System,  a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington and the Mt. Washington Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, B.P. Smith;  son, James W. Curtsinger; two brothers, Morris Porter and Alan Porter; two sisters, Mary Judy Curtsinger and Betty Sanders Blair; and her stepmother, Cloetta Porter.  Joan is survived by one daughter, Karen Curtsinger (Danny); three sons, Gary Porter, Shelby Curtsinger, and Jason Curtsinger (Rhonda); two sisters, Rose Lucchese and Rebecca Monte; along with 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.   Memorial gifts in her memory are suggested to her church.
