John Howard Cornell III

John Howard Cornell III, 68, of Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.  He was born on November 29, 1955 to the late John and Elaine Joyce Cornell Jr. in Louisville, KY.  Johnnie enjoyed working.  He was the former store manager for United Refrigeration, owner of Cornell Heating and Cooling, and in his younger years, he enjoyed metal work and painting cars.  He also loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Cornell, and a daughter-in-law, Sue.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Lewis Cornell; two sons, Jeremy and Jason (Jessica) Cornell; one brother, Scotty Cornell; two sisters, Joy Grzelak and Faye Sanders (Rocky); along with three grandchildren, Tyler, Miranda, and Wyatt, and a host of extended family and friends.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.  Memorial gifts in his memory are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
