John Franklin Heady, 90, of Mt Washington, returned to the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Baptist Health.
John was a native of Spencer County, KY, a retired employee of General Electric, a member of IUE 761, an Army veteran, and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He devoted a large portion of his life to serving his community. He was a charter member of Kentucky Sheriff Boy’s and Girls Ranch, Lifetime member of Masonic Home Kentucky, Mt. Washington Historical Society, Mt. Washington Lions Club, Salt River Masonic Lodge #180, lifetime member of Bullitt County Scottish Rite, AARP, NRA, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Etta Heady; and a brother, Tom Heady.
John is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Bonnie Matherly Heady; four children, Vicki Jackson, Connie Davenport, Donna Jasper, and John Mark Heady; three brothers, Bob, Bill, and Dan Heady; eight grandchildren, Rob, Deana, Amanda, Laura, Dani, Makenzie, Andrew, and Madalyn; along with seven great grandchildren; and a host of many friends, including Laura Proffitt Rideout, whom he thought of as one of his own. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2023 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 11 a.m. Monday. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project.
