John Morris Stearns Sr.

John Morris Stearns Sr., 80, of Columbia, passed away at his home on Friday, December 13, 2024.  John was a retired employee of Louisville Bedding Company and former owner of S&S Service Center in Fern Creek, KY.  He had a great passion for horses, and he spent many years as a trainer.  He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, deer hunting, and rabbit hunting.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Lee and Mayme Stearns; and three siblings, Billy, Luther, and Rosemary.  John is survived by his wife, Joy Dudley Stearns;  three children, Candy Brinley (Phillip), John Stearns Jr. (Angie), and Eric Steven Stearns; five siblings, Orville, Eva Mae, Jimmy, Eddie, and Roy; four grandchildren, Ashley (James), Justin, Shelly (Daniel) and Joshua (Brooke); ten great  grandchildren, Isaac, Brinley, Coletin, Samantha, Josiah, Jonah, Kinsley, Hadley, Tatum, and Journey; along with longtime friends, Phil and Norma Clark; and his beloved fur-babies, Mandy, Bud, and Thomas.  Cremation was chosen.  A celebration of his life will be held 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Compton officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. until time of service.  Memorial gifts in his memory are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
