Joyce Marlene (Porter) Mann

Joyce Mann (nee' Porter), passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, at the age of 87 in Louisville, KY.  Born on August 25, 1937, in Mt. Washington, KY, Joyce lived a full life marked by her dedication to family, church, and community.  Joyce graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1955 and later retired from a fulfilling career as as the bookkeeper at Bullitt East High School.  She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Washington, where she found great solace and community.  Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, and traveling, each of which she approached with great enthusiasm and skill.  Joyce's love for her family was profound and she is fondly remembered for her wicked sense of humor that brought laughter and joy to those around her.  Joyce is survived by her loving sons, Garry, Barry (Rhonda), and Mike (Darlene) Mann; her grandchildren, Christy Hardin, Tara Alcorn, J. Kyle Mann, Susan Stokes, Laura Mann, Madelyn Mann, Michael Mann, Kyle Cornell, and Cady Cornell; along with 5 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 4 sisters, Rita Trent, Nita Jewell, Connie Steele, and Bonnie McIntosh.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Mann, her parents, Lester and Marcella Porter, a daughter-in-law, Jo Mann, and a great granddaughter, Kristen Hardin.  Joyce's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church, Mt. Washington, with burial to follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery.  Friends may visit 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
