Kristen Laree Hardin, born December 15, 1992, was a friend to all who met her in her 30 years. Kristen passed away of Friday, April 14, 2023. A proud graduate of the University of Louisville, she was determined to spend the next phase of life focusing on uplifting and serving others. Kristen had an uncanny ability to make those around her feel important by remembering the smallest of details. This quality, among endless others, made her a light to be around. Kristen loved shopping with her mom Christy (especially on Black Fridays), and improving her accuracy at the gun range with her dad, Larry, and big brother, Matthew. She was always up for adventure and loved to experience new places and things. Kristen was generous, kind, thoughtful, and a considerate soul who always strived to bring out the best in others by encouraging them to use their own gifts for good. Though she was sweet, she was also sassy, playful and affably strong willed. After a bike accident as a child, she told the doctor that he'd 'better get his hands out of her mouth before she bit them.' Preceding Kristen in death was her paternal grandfather, Larry L. Hardin; her paternal great grandparents, Joe and Corrine Hardin; maternal great grandparents, Jimmy Mann, Clinton and Sandra Russell. Those left missing Kristen deeply are her parents, Larry and Christy Hardin of Mt. Washington; brother, Matthew Hardin of Mt. Washington; grandparents, Pamela Graves of Lawrenceburg, Garry and Jo Mann of Cox's Creek, and Kathleen and Mark Willis of Louisville; great grandmother, Joyce Mann of Mt. Washington; as well as 12 aunts and uncles, a host of family and friends, and her beloved dog, Chloe. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family ask that attendees wear something pink in honor of her favorite color. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Rae of Sunshine or the American Suicide Prevention.
