Lindsey Nolan Gentry

Lindsey Nolan Gentry, a loving father and widower passed away at his home in Rocky Mount, VA on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the age of 69.  Originally hailing from Mt. Washington, KY, Lindsey moved to Rocky Mount, VA more than a decade ago with his wife, Nancy.  He was able to make several friends due to his happy nature and love of the area.  In recent years his health declined after the passing of his devoted wife.  His daughter, Tonya, has been assisting her father with hope of recovery. Lindsey was the first child of Radene Cox Gentry and Haskell Gentry.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his brother, Tony; and his nephew Nicholas.  He is survived by his daughter, Tonya (Brandon); two sisters, Jill (Robert), Belinda; and nieces, Melissa (Sean), Shelby, nephew, Sam; two great nieces and a great nephew.  Before his illness he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and canning.  He had a big heart and he will be missed dearly.  The family will receive friends from 1-7 pm on Sunday, July 23 at the McFarland­-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, Mount Washington, KY. The funeral service will be held at 10 am Monday, July 24, 2023 with internment to follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
