Lowell Ray Syrus, 84 of Taylorsville passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21st, 2025. He was born October 21, 1940 in Gallipolis, OH, son of the late Glen H. and Rena R. Syrus.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Teresa Syrus of Taylorsville, daughter and son-in-law, Amber (J.J.) Seamon and grandchildren Max, Avery and Thad Seamon of Taylorsville, brother Ronald Syrus of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
He was a patriot and served his country in Vietnam with the Army. He then went on obtain his Bachelor's degree in Business while working at Columbus State Community College where he retired from after many years of dedicated service. After retirement he chose to volunteer at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, OH and the Spencer County Senior Center. He was also a member of Taylorsville Community Church and immensely enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren who will very much miss their Papa. Lowell was always quick with a joke and will always be remembered by those he met for his funny sense of humor and making people laugh everywhere he went.
According to Lowell's wishes there will be no services and he will be laid to rest at the New Albany National Cemetry, New Albany, IN with military honors. McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
