Luther Kenneth King, 74, of Clarkson, KY, passed away January 19, 2021 at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System.
Luther was born May 27, 1946 in Central City, KY to Luther and Aliene Hayes King. He loved the lake, his music, and played in a band for many years. He was a United States Army Veteran, where he did tours of duty in Vietnam, Germany, and Fort Knox. He served as a armored reconnaissance soldier, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was a decorated veteran with a Bronze Star with the “V” device for his valor during his first two tours of combat duty. He went on to be a Drill Sergeant at Fort Knox where he trained new enlisted soldiers. He was a member of both American Legion Post 81 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12175.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Raina King.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth Lee Norris (Nancy); six daughters, Sylvia Vaughn, Claudia Riggs (Preston), Karen Sears (Tony), Treva Schaefer (Robert), Amanda Krider, and Jessica King; two brothers, Larry (Marvina) and Ron (Brenda) King; one sister, Karen Sue Curly (Tom); along with twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen. A celebration of Luther’s life will be held at a later date. Please contact the family for more details.
