Margene Heflin (Kingkade) Gruber

Margene Heflin Gruber, 73, of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Norton Women and Children's Hospital.  She was the former Margene Kingkade, a nursery school teacher, who devoted her life to serving the Lord and her family.  She was a member and served alongside her husband at Bethany Baptist Church, and was a current member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington.  She enjoyed playing the piano and organ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry K. and Evelyn Louise Kingkade.  Margene is survived by her loving husband of over 53 years, Charles Gruber; three sons, Brett, Joel (Joanna), and Adam (Kitty) Gruber; two brothers, Bruce (Ruth) and H.K. (Bettie) Kingkade; along with three beloved grandchildren, Steven Poynter, Charlie Gayle and Desmond Gruber.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery.  Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.  Memorial gifts are suggested to First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington.
