Myra June Means King went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 19, 2021.

June was born June 30, 1926, in Clothier, WV to Joseph and Martha White. June was a retired teacher from Kanawha County School System in West Virginia.

June was a child of the Great Depression. She would say the poor people called them poor. She had to drop out of school, but would go back to receive a B.S. from Morris Harvey College and a Master’s degree from Marshall University. Growing up until they moved out of state, she was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at Alum Creek.

She is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Gomer Means; sisters, Mabel Tallman and Vida Holden; brothers, Joseph White, Cashie White, and David White; daughter-in-law, Linda Means and granddaughter, Kelly Jo Means.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis King; sons, David (Donna) Means, Steven Means, Larry (Catherine) Means and Phillip Means; stepson, David (June) King; sister, Margaret Conley; grandchildren, Chris Means, Malissa DiPaola, Charles Means, Lisa Landers, Nina Dotta, Matthew Childress, Michelle Stamper, Chris King, and Meredith King; 9 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Chris VanNatter officiating. Burial will follow at the Means’ Family Cemetery, Alum Creek, WV. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
