Nellie Lou Hilliard, 86, of Louisville, returned to the Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at her home. Nellie worked many jobs throughout her life. She was a former truck driver, a dress maker, and worked in a book binding shop. Music was a big part of her life. She was an accomplished singer, produced twenty professional CD’s during her lifetime, played Cello, and was asked to play once with the Louisville Orchestra. She loved serving the Lord with her talents, and was a lifelong member of Christian Assembly. She enjoyed bowling, playing games, coloring, and attending the rodeo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Anna Mae Devore; siblings, Herbert M. Devore Jr., Edith Floyd, Margaret Wallender, and Cassie Fedor; and a great granddaughter, Crystal Hilliard Phillips. Nellie is survived by her beloved husband, Jimmie Gene Hilliard; two sons, David Wayne and Monte Dwayne Phillips; a stepdaughter, Teresa Hueg (Tom); and five siblings, Mary Ann Getzin, Clyde Wesley Devore (Linda), Lola Seifert, Linda Melhorn (Brad), and James William Devore (Brenda); brothers-in-law, Rev. Joe Hilliard and Glenn Fedor; six grandchildren, Damian, Christina, Leo, Stevie, Jake and Tuesday; along with a host of great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Christian Assembly, 9020 Stonestreet Road, Louisville, with burial to follow in the Gospel of the Kingdom Campground Cemetery, Shepherdsville. Friends may visit from 10:30 until time of services at the Church. Memorial gifts are suggested to Christian Assembly.
