Ralph W. Griffith

Ralph W. Griffith, age 76, of Mt. Washington, KY, went to be with our Lord in Heaven on August 29, 2024. Born on October 16, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, Ralph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by love, dedication, and kindness. He was a believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 

Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Griffith, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. He was the proud father of three children: Gregory Griffith (Sherry) of Mt. Washington, KY; Ryan Griffith (Amy) of New Albany, Indiana; and Meredith Helm (James) of Radcliff, KY. Ralph was also a cherished grandfather to three grandchildren: Logan Griffith, Caleb McFadden, and Elissa Reiners, all of Mt. Washington, KY, and a great-grandfather to Eleanora Reiners.  

Ralph is also survived by special cousins Ronnie and Karen Murphy and Stanley King of Shepherdsville, KY. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ronnie, Karen, and Stanley for their unwavering support and dedication throughout the years. 

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Nan Griffith, and his brother, Wayne Griffith. 

Ralph was a military veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Air Force, he began working for Fruehauf Trailer Corporation in Akron, Ohio, in 1971, becoming the youngest service manager in the company's history. Following his tenure at Fruehauf, Ralph went on to work at Trailmobile and enjoyed a distinguished career in the petroleum distribution industry for over 40 years, including significant work in the tank truck industry. He later served in Vice President roles at both EBW (Electronic Brass Works) in Muskegon, Michigan, and APT (Advanced Polymer Technology) in Elkhart, Indiana. After leaving EBW and APT, Ralph and Beverly successfully owned and operated their own business, Buckeye Trailer Center, in Ohio, until their joint retirement in 2013. 

A passionate patriot and statesman, Ralph was deeply committed to his country and its values. He had a profound love for guns and was also an avid enthusiast of hunting, fishing, U.S. history, and Western movies. His appreciation for muscle cars, especially those made by General Motors, was a notable part of his life, though he was quick to forgive a select few who drove a Ford. Ralph was also the ultimate storyteller, delighting in sharing his tales with anyone who would care to listen. 

Ralph's warm heart and generous spirit touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Funeral services will be held at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mt. Washington, KY, from 12 Noon to 1 PM EST on Wednesday, September 4th. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Ralph's memory.
