Richard Lewis Williams, 77, of Mt. Washington, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Rich was born on August 14, 1948 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Walter and Mary Williams. He retired from the U.S. Army having dedicated his life to serving his country. He was a Vietnam combat veteran who received numerous commendations and medals including two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. He completed several tours of duty in both active and civil service across the United States and abroad, including service in Operation Freedom in Afghanistan in 2010. He was a Master Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, a former Kosair for Kids board member, and an active Kosair Shriner, donating many hours to charitable causes. Rich enjoyed golf, fine bourbon, and the company of good friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Williams and a sister, Nancy Bray.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Phyllis Cecil Williams; three daughters, Stephanie Williams, Shannon Schmidt, and Nicole Brown; along with several grandchildren.
There will be a visitation at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mt. Washington starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026. A memorial celebration with a Masonic Service and full military honors will be held in Rich's honor at 3:30 p.m. for all that wish to attend.
