Robert L. “Bob” DeVore, Sr., 95, of Mt. Washington, passed away October 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was retired from the United States Navy, serving on submarines in World War II, a member of Sub-Vets Inc., VFW Post 5710, the Fleet Reserve Association, Salt River Masonic Lodge #180 F and AM, the AARP Mount Washington Chapter, and Lighthouse General Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary C. DeVore; along with a brother, William O. DeVore. He is survived by his wife, Ruth DeVore; five sons, Robert L., Jr. (Donna), Joseph R. (Lisa), Mitchell L., Michael L., and Stephen M. (Heather) DeVore; two daughters, Deborah Kurtz (Charles) and Linda T. Turner (Danny); along with 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 22 at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. Please make all memorial contributions to the Salt River Lodge Scholarship Fund in memory of Bob DeVore.
