Robert (Bob) Starke McNeil, Jr., C.L.U., was born July 27, 1943 to Robert Starke McNeil, Sr. and Martha Christian McNeil in Williamson, West Virginia. Bob attended Belfry High School in Belfry, KY where he was the Varsity quarterback. After graduating, Bob attended the University of Kentucky where he majored in civil engineering. He began his work career with Stokely and Associates in Lexington, KY, and continued his engineering career with Fuller, Mossbarger, Scott, and May. He later spent 42 years as a certified life underwriter for Commonwealth Life Insurance at which time he served as local and state president of the Life Underwriter's Association. Bob was a member of the Hurstbourne Baptist Church where he was the church treasurer for 20 years. Bob was an avid University of Kentucky football fan and season ticket holder for over 50 years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Victoria McAfee (Lisle); a brother, John Chrisitan McNeil, Sr. (Betty); along with a brother, Thomas William McNeil, Sr. (Beverly). He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dottie McNeil; a sister, Marguerite McNeil Walker (Prentice); a brother, Eddie Dye (Gay); along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 18 at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with entombment to follow at a later date at the Mt Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit after 5 p.m. Wednsday.
