Roger Wayne Tunget, 56, of Louisville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 22, 2025. Roger was born on May 23, 1969 in Louisville, KY to Carol Braden Nichols and the late Sylvester Tunget. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Keith Nichols. In addition to his mother, he leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Richard (Lisa), Robert (Brooke), and Sylvester Jr.; nieces, Leann Sullivan, Ashley Tunget, and Alaina Tunget; one nephew, Aidan Tunget; great niece, Paityn; great nephews, Liam and Theodore; his aunt, Donna Braden; along with a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. His extended family are the participants and staff at the Southwest Center for the Developmentally disabled. Roger loved baseball as a youth and excelled as a player at Germantown Baseball, Manuel High School, and Doss High School, and dreamed of becoming a professional player. A car crash at 17 changed those dreams. The head injury he received changed the course of his life. He prepared and gave speeches to high schools in the area to warn students about the dangers of drinking and driving. He said it would all be worth it if his words would help one student. Roger was loved by so many and his courage, determination and willpower helped others that struggled to overcome serious illness or physical difficulties. He will be missed by all his family and friends. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Louisville, and enjoyed going to their meetings. He loved University of Kentucky basketball, and wearing their colors. He was not often seen without his UK hat. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2025 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday. Memorial gifts in his memory are suggested to the Southwest Center for the Developmentally Disabled.
