Royce Wendell King Sr., 77, of Taylorsville, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Royce was born in Sonora, KY, on January 20, 1947 to the late Paul and Frances Elizabeth King. He retired from the construction business as a brick mason. He loved his family, and his late wife, Remona King dearly. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, deer hunting, camping, and boating. He also loved restoring old cars and trucks. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Sr. and Delbert King; three daughters, Carolyn, Wendy, and Deborah Lynn King; a grandson, Johnny Hogan; a son-in-law, Troy Hogan; and four brothers, Charlie, Terry, Bobby Joe, and Paul King. Royce is survived by three daughters, Yvonne Hogan, Karen Sturgill (Clint), and Starr Berry; one son, Royce King Jr. (Debbie); two brothers, Mike and Jerry L. King Sr. (Monica); two sisters, Lorraine Cox and Patty King Bruce (Rick); along with 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Valley Cemetery, Taylorsville. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.
