Samuel Edward Hardy broke the bounds of this Earth on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Sam was born on April 27, 1936 to James Hilary Hardy and Ruth Evelyn Sutton Hardy in Bullitt County, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Knapp Hardy, three children, Todd (Connie) Hardy of Cox’s Creek, KY, Kimberly Hardy Martin (Andy) of Versailles, KY, and Ted Hardy (Jaime) of Versailles, KY and 6 grandchildren, Sam, Regan, Thomas, Dorrah, Tate and Eva. He is also survived by one brother, Bill (Sug) Hardy, a sister-in-law, JoAnn Hardy and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Marilee Durbian-Darmon, a brother, Bud Hardy and a son, Daren Hardy.
He lived most of his life in Bullitt County, where he owned and ran several successful businesses – Hardy & Mooney Auto Supplies, Taylorsville Auto Supply, Big Star Land Company, Knapp Meadows and other business ventures. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville and Versailles Baptist Church after he moved to Versailles, KY. Sam loved people and loved to volunteer his time to the First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville, KY, Versailles (KY) Baptist Church, Shepherdsville Lions Club, Bullitt Co. Fair Board, Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief, The Democratic Party of Bullitt Co., The Jaycees, and Bullitt County Economic Development.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, Kentucky, Private Services will follow. Those attending the visitation must wear proper facial cover and follow social distancing guidelines. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, Mt. Washington, Kentucky. Private Services will follow with entombment at Highland Memory Gardens. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
