Shirley Ann Sanders, 87, of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Baptist Health.
Shirley was born on December 9, 1938 in Springfield, Kentucky to the late William and Elrose Carney Young. She enjoyed bowling, flowers, going out to eat, cooking, but her greatest joy was any time spent with her family. She was also a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Dean Sanders; her son, Doug Sanders Sr.; along with two brothers, David and Harold Young.
Shirley is survived by two daughters, Karen Keaney (Joe) and Patricia Wise (John); one sister, Mary Kathryn Mann; six grandchildren, Doug Jr., Heather, Michael, Matthew (Christy), Ashley (Mustafa), and Garrett; along with seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday.
Memorial gifts in Shirley’s memory are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation.
