Thelma Lois Schoenick, 81, of Mt. Washington, returned to the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at University of Louisville Hospital. Lois was a retired employee of General Electric, past vice president and program chair of Mt. Washington AARP, and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington, where she was a member of the Young at Heart senior group. Over the years, she had participated in Relay for Life events, many cancer support groups, and church activities. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and working seek and find puzzles. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Schoenick; her parents, Manlis and Luevern DeBell; and a sister, Pauline Himes (Richard). Lois leaves behind one daughter, Robin Harris (Nick); three sisters, Ruth Sheperd (Bob), Elsie Green (Elmer), and Melody Thomas (Dale); along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2025 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until time of services on Monday.
