William Henry “Skip” Hatfield, 81, of Mt. Washington, passed away April 30, 2021 at his home.
Skip was a multi-sport athlete for Mount Washington High School, earning an offer from the University of Louisville to walk on in basketball and later was drafted to pitch for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was a self-employed contractor and developer, a member of the carpenters and millwright union, a United States Army Veteran, and attended the Mount Washington United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Hatfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Mullins Hatfield; his daughter, Jennifer Barbagallo (John); two grandsons, Jordan (Kaitlyn) and Hunter Barbagallo; along with other family members, Jill Herndon (Darrell), Katherine Dawn Sharp (John), and Gunner and Ryker Sharp.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mount Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1-6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
